Challenge #211: Birthday Gifts. As you know, the 9th of January is Severus Snape's birthday. I think most of us would agree that this year, more than any other, Snape deserves to be given a nice gift for his birthday. Therefore, this week's challenge is 'Birthday Gifts," - and any birthday will do, as long as the drabble focuses on Snape receiving a present.
(Note: for the evil ones amongst our membership: no, the gifts don't really all have to be nice ones. *g*)

Severus regarded the plate with mingled horror and amusement.
The stacked layers of burnt sponge listed drunkenly to one side, as structurally sound as the Burrow and less attractive. They’d been spackled together with a generous amount of buttercream, which had a suspiciously
chunky look about it.
Margot presented her creation with a proud flourish.
“I made it all by myself. It’s for you.”
This much was obvious from the message that lurched unevenly across the icing: HAPPY BIRTHDAY DADDY.
“I hope you like it,” she added solemnly.
It tasted vile—yet it was the sweetest birthday cake he’d ever had.
