Looking for something supernatural along the vein of Old Gods of Appalachia. Curses, hexes, folk magic and medicine, creatures that beckon you into the dark woods, tricksters, ancient Lovecraftian elementals, werewolves, strange kinds of vampires, haints and restless spirits - that kind of supernatural.
John here is a werewolf, cursed to live until the universe runs out of days as punishment for horrific acts he committed a century or two back. These days, he lives in the mountains where very old magic seeps into everyday life and acts as a guardian of sorts. He protects the humans in town from the Woods and vice versa, while doing his best to keep to himself in a cabin few folks know how to find. He's accepted that crippling solitude is his lot in life but that doesn't mean he doesn't crave companionship of some kind.
Enter your character who is...anyone/anything. A ghost hunter who didn't heed the warnings and decided to spend a night in the woods, only to be targeted by some terrifying creature. A curious trickster with boundary issues. A newly turned werewolf who's lost and scared of what they've become. An elemental who has possessed a local. Possibilities are endless.
