Friday Rec!
Welcome to the first Friday rec! Every Friday one of the mods will rec a favorite fic or piece of art featuring Sirius and hopefully get a few recs in return in the comments. We know there's a wealth of fantastic Sirius-centric fic out there so please feel free to point everyone in the direction of one of your favorites. Any genre (slash/het/gen) or pairing is welcome but please warn for NWS content.
Today's rec was originally posted on Snapely Holidays in 2010 and is being recc'd by akatnamedeaster:
Author: r_grayjoy
Title: Found in the Moments Between the Search
Alternate link(s): AO3
Characters: Snape/Sirius (with appearances by Harry, Remus, Dumbledore, and a small army of others)
Rating: adult/NC-17
Content Info: *rough (but consensual) sex, more snark than you can shake a wand at*
Summary: When Sirius returns from beyond the Veil with knowledge of Voldemort's Horcruxes, he takes on the task of finding and destroying them. Somewhere along the way he finds an unexpected ally and perhaps something more. (AU from the end of OotP, takes place during HBP period)
Disclaimer: The world of HP and its characters belongs to Rowling.
Word count: ~26,500
Author Notes: 7types you said that you'd like to see Severus and Sirius resolve their fraught history. I believe they've managed that here, even if it took them 26K words to do so!
Heaps and heaps of gratitude to everyone who served as brainstorm buddy, cheerleader, sympathetic ear, and/or beta during the creation of this monster.
My comment:
Stories like this are what remind me why Snape/Black is my OTP. :)
The level of thought and detail that went into this story are impressive and I love that the sex -isn't- the main focus but rather it's just a really well told story that just happens to have wonderful sex scenes in it.
The development of the relationship is gradual and believable and Snape's reservations about letting Sirius close to his heart are just so true to the character. You really nailed what makes Snape so appealing and frustrating at the same time. I also love the development of Sirius as a more mature but still cheeky and slightly reckless man. He's still Sirius but changed in a way that is credible for how someone would be after a close brush with (permanent) death.
It would be very easy for me to gush (I probably already have) since there is a lot here that just made me smile but I'll just say this was a really nice way to end what has been an otherwise trying day. Thank you for this!
Unrelated to this post, there have been a couple of minor posting rules change with regard to the definition of chan for the purposes of this comm.. Please see the user information page for more information.
