ah, yes, "second character". we've dismissed these claims
I'm Commander Shepard, and this is my favorite store on the Citadel.
… I mean, okay, who doesn't want to just go say that all the time? It's Alice again, back with a second character, Commander (Jane) Shepard of the Mass Effect games. She's a space marine from the 2180's, where she flies around the galaxy shooting people for the greater good. (There's an epic plot there - it involves space squid robots - but I'll spare you the mushy details.) She's a decorated soldier, an experienced commander, and although she started out very heroic and moral and upstanding, there's this thing where she died and got put back together by a terrorist organization, which wasn't the healthiest or most psychologically beneficial experience. But on the whole, she is still a pretty stereotypical ~hero - even if she occasionally punches people to make them do what she wants them to. They had it coming, okay?
(In game terms, for those of you familiar with Mass Effect's system - imagine that she's a Spacer/War Hero, Vanguard, and makes mostly Paragon choices?)
Since she's used to a world with FTL space travel, AI computers and aliens, and completely equal rights for women, coming to 1964 is going to be a huge, jarring shock for her. Come volunteer to help her through it - or make it way, way more confusing! And bear with all my repeating of all the ridiculously quotable Bioware oneliners from this game! (.... see above.)
