Hi everyone! I'm Samantha and I'm the new kid on the block. :) I'm a 24-year-old upstate NY native working as an Education Coordinator for a local museum, and I'm bringing you Eugenia "Skeeter" Phelan of Kathryn Stockett's amazing novel The Help. I haven't seen the film yet but I can't wait!

Skeeter (no one calls her Eugenia except her mother) was born and raised in Jackson, Mississippi and is contemporary to the game timeline. She has never fit the mold of the perfect young Southern woman of means, although she tried for many years to be someone she was not. Skeeter recently came into her own through the writing and publishing of Help, a book about the lives and stories of several black housekeepers in Jackson. For obvious reasons, the book was published anonymously, but Skeeter has learned a lot through her journey and is no longer afraid of the person she really is. She's opinionated and always tries to push boundaries -- to test ideas to their limit and prod them for weaknesses and flaws. Help was a huge success and scandal, but Skeeter is realizing her dream of being a writer when it's popularity earned her a job with Stein Publishing in Manhattan. Now, away from the stifling constraints of what is "proper" in the South, Skeeter is excited and nervous about what lies ahead for her. You can read more about her personality and background here!

Hey Samantha! My name is Kendra, I've got three characters and some NPCs, and I'm one of the mods. Welcome!

I'm currently running around with Tony Stark (Iron Man), Zatanna Zatara (DC Comics' resident magician), and Peggy Olson (the only female copywriter from Mad Men). My modly duties call for my NPCing of Welcome Center Millie (she works in the NYC Welcome Center which is the place new residents can go for help), Dr. Sheldon Cooper (from The Big Bang Theory), and Erik Lensherr (from X-Men, specifically First Class verse).

Peggy and Skeeter would probably be lovely professional woman who push boundaries friends! Um, Tony would probably just want to sleep with her (who is he to resist a southern accent?), but at least there's Peggy!

I haven't read The Help. It sounds interesting though, so I might have to give it a go!

But yes, hey Samantha, I'm Kim aaaaaaand...I have 4 characters! The first here is Jadis from The Chronicles of Narnia and she's kind of batshit/enjoys turning people to stone so Skeeter might not want her as a friend or a potential suitor but of course that's entirely her prerogative. XD I also have The Evil Queen from Snow White on

diabolus_regina, and from the Marvel fandom I have Nightcrawler (

go_bamf) and Polaris (

so_polarized).

can_swear is not thrilled to be here. He's working on finding a position at a hospital he can tolerate and trying to advance medical technology here. or will be, once he gets the means to do so.

finds_things. She's currently up in Westchester at the Xavier-Lensherr school but she's working on thinking about considering possibly moving to the city, though she's still debating that.

Hey!

I'm Mara. I've got Catwoman and Poison Ivy from the DC universe, Bill Compton from True Blood, and Don Draper from Mad Men (phew). I haven't read The Help yet, though I've heard nothing but good things about the movie. I imagine Selina and Skeeter would get along, and Bill Compton is from the genteel South, so they'll have that in common.

I love Christina Hendricks (noticed she was your PB for Poison Ivy)! I have yet to watch Mad Men, which is a shocker because I love that era. I need to Netflix that. But Jon Hamm... <3

ANYWAY, enough fangirling. As much as Skeeter is glad to be away from Jackson, I think there will definitely be some things she misses about the South and she'll be glad to find someone who knows that environment. We shall plot!

I loved The Help!

I'm Sarah, and I have two here- first off is Donna Noble from the Doctor Who universe (

illhaveasalute) third companion to the Tenth Doctor. She's sassy and loud and takes no shit, but she's also very compassionate and has far too easy of a time identifying with the down and out/underdogs.

Then at this journal, I have Neville Longbottom, who is a respected war hero and Herbology professor from the wonderful world of Harry Potter. I play him ten years after the war, mostly over his PTSD, and very mild mannered but just a little bit snarky when it comes to friends. It's difficult to get him to open up to strangers, as he's fairly shy.

	Yay! It really was one of the best books I've read in a long time. I think Skeeter will like Donna, because she wishes she could be that way and still can't always just say what she's thinking.
