It was a surprise to be addressed, especially so casually, and Sungmin found himself checking behind and to the other side of him before realizing that the newcomer was speaking to him.

"Oh," he said, English words fighting to organize themselves in his brain. While he'd been in the States for months, it was still a bit of a struggle to communicate, especially when he'd been drinking. He peered at the bottle's label. Hard-to-read words in an elaborate Gothic script stared back at him and he gave up trying to decipher them.

"It's American beer." He turned the label in the other man's direction. "It's not bad, but I've had better."

Granted, it had been a different century then.

"It's good for being not expensive," he added, in case the man thought Sungmin didn't like the beer because it was American. He didn't think anyone would jump to his defense if he got into trouble here. "I think I just like stronger drinks more."
