It had taken Roger a few minutes more than expected to get there. Traffic in New York was borderline torture, nothing like the not quite full but not quite empty either streets of Paradigm City. As similar as both places were in location, the vast differences made the whole transition more dificult. Even after several months in this world, Roger wondered if he would ever get completely used to it.
But the figure standing in the curb was just like he remembered her from Paradigm. Roger smiled as he stopped the car in front of the Welcome Center and got out. That wouldn't win him any points with the other drivers but it felt wrong somehow to do the usual - stop briefly, wait for Dorothy to get on, drive - after all the time they had spent apart. He thought of many things to say as he stood before her, but in the end said only two words.
