Rose came to a halt as the voices became more and more distinct. The picture of how this had unfolded was still blurry, but Rose was able to get the gist of it. Her eyes were immediately drawn to the woman on the ground and she could feel anger and fear on her behalf bubble up past her initial hesitation. It gave Rose a goal and suddenly the only thing she could think of was getting the woman enough space to run.
Of course, that plan involved getting the bloke's attention. Which probably would have been a better idea if she had some sort of plan to follow the initial step. Instead she just acted, shouting, “Hey! Back off!”
The good news? The distraction seemed to work for a brief moment. But the bad news came when the woman didn't immediately scatter. Still, Rose had taken a lot away from her travels with the Doctor and one thing that she had learned was that, even when things don't go your way, you still act like you're in control. Confidence. Which was easier when you were him.
“Wanna explain what's going on here?” Not as confident or as imposing as she would have liked, especially when she backed up a step as she said it, but there you go. Her gaze flickered back to the woman, hoping to make eye contact and urge her up. But she was shaking her head and crying and distraught and Rose couldn't tell if she was simply frozen from fear or if she may have been injured. She'd have to find a way to get to her.
