Jaime made a face at him, then scowled when he stole her bag anyway. "Hey, I was holding that," she protested as she started along after him. She tucked her hands into her pockets as they went along, though she did keep an eye on what path seemed to be the best to get to the stairs without incident.
"I didn't sneak out. I may have fibbed a little about ... what this actually was." Jaime inhaled before heaving a sigh. "I told them we were lovers and you'd swayed me to live with you with your old man wiles," she teased him before she laughed quietly. "I did ... tell them this was a temporary thing, and I was just trying out living in the city. They do have your number, and I imagine at least one of them will ... call. At some point. Just to check in and make sure you're actually looking out for me and I didn't just use you as my excuse like kids do. You know, Jimmy says he's staying over at Bobby's while Bobby says he's staying over at Jimmy's but really they're both spending the night in the graveyard next to the insane asylum." She paused a beat. "By the way, if they call, I was here the whole time."
She really had no desire to put him in that position, but she also didn't think he would ever be in that position. Besides, it wasn't like Charles couldn't just peek and oh, there she was.
