"I didn't mean to imply. I meant to accuse outright," he replied without missing a beat. Okay, he didn't truly think she was a klutz, but walking through his store with a bag over your shoulder was tricky and he didn't want to start off this arrangement with broken merchandise.

Taking the bag from her, he led her towards the back of the shop where the stairs would take them to the apartment on the next floor. He assumed that taking the lead would be enough of a sign that he hadn't changed his mind and he decided he wouldn't tease just yet about that. Maybe later.

"So is it safe to assume you didn't steal away in the middle of the night and I won't be receiving any angry phone calls about corrupting you?" Balthazar asked, tilting his head back to glance over his shoulder at her before starting up the stairs.
