Lily had been ridiculously hung over Saturday morning. She hadn't thought far enough ahead to recall there weren't any hangover potions in this world, nor could she acquire the ingredients to make one. So she'd suffered through it, dealing with it in the normal ways. She was pleased that she hadn't gotten drunk to the point of forgetting the entire evening, though there were bits she wished she could have forgotten. Most of it had been fine, but near the end ... when she'd been tipsy and tired and entirely too open to ideas, she'd danced with some strangers. It had seemed like a good idea at the time. She was dancing, they were dancing, why shouldn't they have danced together? One of the blokes had kissed her, and while she hadn't kissed him back, really, she hadn't pushed him away, either. It had surprised her more than anything, though Merlin knew why she should have been surprised. Hadn't she seen enough of how the blokes here behaved to have expected that? Either way, it had sent her thoughts into a confused frenzy, and she'd left shortly thereafter. She'd barely spoken to anyone in the flat since she'd been home, though ... no real surprises there. Remus wasn't feeling well, and Ginny had been out, and Lily herself had just been quiet and mostly discouraging conversation. Disinclined to spend the whole day in the flat, Lily decided to take lunch out. She'd very purposely not told anyone where she was going, because she was still working on sorting out the tangle of thoughts that were plaguing her. Finding a quiet table in a corner, she'd settled down with her lunch and a book and took her time working through her food. She didn't turn the pages, though the book was open, because she was thinking more than actually reading. Anyone watching long enough would likely have noticed that she was simply staring at the book, not actually reading it as she ate. She, also, was mostly oblivious to her surroundings, which was also strange for her. She had a feeling a marching band could parade by and she wouldn't notice. |
