"Looking at us ... in what sense?" Lily's brow furrowed. She wasn't business-savvy enough to understand what was code and what was exactly what it sounded like. But ... looking at them. To purchase? To merge? To place an account? She thought it could go either way.
"Thank you," she replied as she held out her hand for the candies. "No, I know where the actual food is. I just needed something besides my lip to occupy my teeth for a bit. A habit I'm trying to break," she admitted. She also wasn't inclined to try to break it with a cigarette -- the smoke from the people around her was bad enough without her creating more.
"Mm. I just meant ... things are advancing, but not quickly enough, as far as equal rights go. I didn't mean to imply ... what I'm sure everyone outright says." She offered her an apologetic smile. "I'm sure you are very good at it," Lily hurried to assure her. "I was just ... curious, I suppose."
