"Nothing that can't wait a moment or so," she assured Peggy. "I'm a quick study and I've caught on well enough. I just have to remember to use the American English versions of the words." A wry smile tugged her lips before she shrugged slightly.
"Second," she said. "Well, the start of my second, at any rate." She was sort of surprised she'd made it this long, but she was finding her niche and her pace and she didn't think it would be much longer before she was just as good at the other secretaries.
She regarded the woman for a moment as they entered the kitchen, and she looked around curiously. Honestly, she didn't know what was off limits and what wasn't, and she preferred to err on the side of caution, at least for now.
"So you ..." Lily trailed off, because there really wasn't a polite way to ask how Peggy had gotten her position in a clearly male-dominated field. "Well, it's unique for this time, isn't it? To have a woman in a job like yours?" She realized her slip too late and simply hoped it went unremarked upon.
