Lily Evans ([info]just_lily) wrote in [info]silverage,
"That's fine," Lily replied to his dinner choices. She watched him as he moved the cartons, and listened as he explained, and it wasn't so very different from the times they'd sat outside, under trees or by the pond, and he'd explained magic to her. She looked away as the wave of nostalgia swept over her, and she wanted to know why it couldn't be like that again, why it had to be so awkward and feel so weird now.

"I suppose saying 'I just did it' isn't going to help at all?" She offered with a faint, sad smile. "I didn't think about it though. Not in terms of spell words or wand movements or anything like that. I just thought 'I want this' and ... it happened. Like not landing hard when I jumped off a swing, or not wanting to get in trouble after breaking something.

"That was the first time," she murmured. "A teacup I'd broken." But he knew that. She'd told him that near the beginning. Lily shook her head and moved toward the containers to start fixing herself a plate.

Part of her wanted to just talk. To catch up. But that was what friends did, and she had no idea what they were to one another just then. Student and teacher, she supposed, though the thought sent a flare of amusement into her eyes.
