Severus took a deep breath and forced himself to move to set down the bag and remove the containers from it. The fortune cookies and egg rolls were first, followed by three containers of food. "I got beef lo mein and beef and broccoli with rice. I wasn't sure what your preference might be."
It was certainly awkward, and it wasn't going at all the way it had played out in his head. He'd hoped that he could manage to get past the things that had caused their friendship to break, but he couldn't seem to. He seemed to be stuck in their past.
"The thing most people forget about non-verbal and wandless magic is that it's a talent we're all born with - otherwise the Accidental Magic Reversal Squad wouldn't have a function," he explained as he obsessively arranged the containers on the table. He realized he was lining them up, trying to get them spaced evenly and in a perfect line, and he forced his hands to go back to his sides. He was in control here, even if the cartons were out of place. He just had to continue to remind himself of that. "We just have to find how you naturally tapped into the flow of magic and made things happen. I believe everyone does it somewhat differently, but I have no confirmation of my theory, really."
