Susan Sto Helit / Discworld ([info]ms_susan) wrote in [info]silverage,
Susan had spent the day putting in applications. Her job as a governess was adequate, but not what she wanted to do until she found a way to get home. After all, she'd been an instructor at an exclusive school, and had training in mathematics and logic. It just seemed such a waste, but there seemed to be some sort of taboo about hiring a woman for those sorts of jobs.

She'd considered executive assistant after talking with Susan Pevensie, her new roommate. There seemed to be a lot of overlap between that and schoolteacer, and the other Susan's charges didn't wet themselves. It had taken her all of five minutes to master a typewriter at the Library, and she did have more than a little experience assisting her grandfather, who probably qualified as an executive since he was the top management of the death business on Discworld. She'd even typed up an appropriate resume and had copies made. But 'we'll call you' had never sounded very promising to her.

She had decided to walk through the park to work off some of her anger. She noticed a younger-looking girl by the pond feeding something to the ducks and walked that way out of curiosity. When she got closer, she noticed the girl was looking sort of sad, or depressed about something. Not able to help her curiosity, she walked closer. Susan wasn't quite the busybody as Nanny Ogg, but...

"I can't help but notice you seem to have the weight of the world on your shoulders today," she said, trying to look friendly. "Something you'd like to talk about?" Sometimes the best way to find things out was just ask a question and see what developed.
