It probably wasn't vague enough and it probably raised more questions than it answered. She had ties at home, and none here. This wasn't home, and if it ever did become home, then England and her life there would be lost to her. Even if she did return, would she be able to fit back in?
This place was going to change her, and she might not be the woman that James fell in love with when she got back. Or she might have fallen out of love with him along the way. No, these were things she wasn't ready to deal with or accept yet.
