She wondered if he did understand, or if that was simply his way of putting an end to the topic. She thought it would be nice to find someone who really did understand. Someone she could really talk to about being displaced and everything else that came with it. But it wasn't as though she wanted to go shouting about the fact she could do magic. Maybe there was no Statute here, but she wasn't in any rush to find out.
"I haven't decided yet," she replied with a little smile. "I'm sure once I've been here a bit longer I'll have formed some opinion or another of this place." She had met a few nice people, after all, and if it weren't for the fact that she had no choice but to be here, she might have a more positive opinion of the place so far.
"What do you think of New York, compared to other places you've been?" she prompted.
