Who: Cinderella and OTA.
When: Monday afternoon.
Where: A small bar not too far from the Welcome Center.
What: A drink and the search for a job.
Rating/status: TBD/Incomplete.

If Cindy had been an ordinary girl, her foot would have been bleeding, begging for rest. Popularity power was a beautiful thing to have, specially when you had spent the entire morning walking your pretty feet off and were ready for more.

She had meant it when had said she needed a new job. Shop girl was a good and solid profession where she could thrive and enjoy herself, but when all was said and done she was hoping for something on a bigger place. She had no ambition of becoming the richest and most fabulous woman in the city (although she wouldn’t have said no to more money) She simply wanted to be somewhere where things happened. Maybe she would find some answers then.

She poured over a little notebook as a waiter refilled her glass. She was offered an ashtray as well, which she rejected. The notebook had information in job ads she had been checking at the Center. Sure, she lacked the secretarial experience, but she was a quick study and had learned a thing or two during undercover work. So that could be worked. The question was where to start first. Stark sounded interesting (and she knew the soldiers were bound to show up again, looking for weapons) Wayne Enterprises seemed to be almost but not quite similar. She had never considered newspapers and certainly not advertising. But the more she thought about it, the more it could work.

From the corner of her eye, she spied a bunch of guys staring. She rolled her eyes and focused on her drink and her notebook.

If Lee had a little less restraint, he would have chuckled as he passed the team of men on his way to the counter which was, so far, only occupied by the lovely blonde and her glass. But he kept his amusement to himself as he walked over to the space beside her and sat himself there, smiling at the lady with a tip of his hat, "Good afternoon, Ma'am."

Hester placed herself on the bolted bottom plate of the stool right beneath him.

Summoning the waiter, he ordered for a straight glass of whiskey.

Cindy could have sworn she a groan from the boys in the back. Obviously they had been pondering who would be the one getting the seat next to her until the older msn stepped forward. She twisted her body towards the man, knowing the boys see this as the ultimate defeat and go try to impress some other bimbo. That done she turned her attention to the older man.

"Good afternoon to you," Cindy replied. She nodded in a aproval at his choice of drink before raising her own Martini as a toast of sorts. "Nice choice. Do you drink it here often?"

"No, I don't often go here. In fact, it's just my first time." Lee punctuated that with a chuckle. As he received his stout glass, he raised it a little to the blond and drank it straight down.

"Another," he said to the tender when he returned the glass. Below him, Hester was keeping tabs on the conversation happening with the younger men.

Lee glanced over his shoulder for a moment to watch them before he turned to Cindy and nodded towards them. "Seems like you've got them by the palm of your hands, Ma'am. Good friends?"

"First time for everything," Cindy said. "Here's hoping is not the last!"

She chuckled at the thought of the boys being friends of hers - or anything at all. "They wish. They're more like little boys in a playground, pushing each other and unsure what to do when a girl shows up." She shrugged, finishing her drink and gesturing at the bartender for another.

"Reminds me a bit of myself when I was a young one," Lee said with a laugh as he sipped from his glass of whiskey. "Fine days they were."

"They're making stories about you and the lady now, Lee," Hester reported diligently as she looked up. "Funny stories if you ask me!"

"I can see you don't sound like you're too bothered by them," he said as he lifted his glass to the level of his lips, tilting it a little as though getting ready to drink it, again. "Not the first time you get boys ogling at you, is it?"

"I can only imagine," said Cindy, who thought she was probably much much older than this man.

"Boys will be boys," she replied with a shrug. "And I do get it from time to time. The price of being pretty, right?" She chuckled. Cindy was many things, but modest was certainly not one of them.

OOC: sorry for the long wait!

"Pretty's a damn fine thing to be, all right," Lee said to agree. He had to admit, she does look quite the beauty. Bouncing golden locks, shadowy eyes, high cheek bones and the most beautiful shoulders he'd seen in his life.

"Keep it quiet, Lee," Hester advised as she hopped closer to Lee's ankle and batted at it a bit, just to make sure that she had his attention. "Looks like these boys got all day to make guesses on ya."

"So what's a fine lady like you doing here in this dingy bar on a Monday afternoon with a couple of dumb boys at the back?" He was obedient to Hester's advice and kept his voice low, talking more softly although still audible enough for the blonde to hear. "If you don't mind my askin', Ma'am..."

OOC: No worries. I was MIA myself!

Ah, he wanted a story from her. And what a fascinating story it was. The one she chose to tell anyway.

"This fine lady went to bed one night and woke up in this odd version of New York City. She got a job as a shop girl and is now looking for something that pays better. And she likes diny bars. That's about it. Do I get to hear your story now, Sir?" She leaned forward, all sweet smiles and casual talk. "I bet your story is more interesting than mine."

Lee's brows rose a little. What luck, this was the second lost woman he had seen in a month! Now just how many more of them are out there waiting for him?

"Nothing as interesting as waking up in New York one morning, I'm afraid," he said with a chuckle. "Born and raised in Texas, took off when I could walk on my own. Spent the rest of my life traveling states, now I'm flyin' my own balloon." He finished this with a smirk. "Not a bad story fer an old man if you ask me."

"Oh I think that's a great story," Cindy said with a grin. "Traveling all over and a balloon, no less? Sounds like a fun way to live, not to mention the view you must get from up high."

Out of all the things back in her New York City, she missed skydiving - heck, anything that implied flying - the most. Well, that and her impressive wardrobe.

"The view ain't much, actually," Lee admitted as below him Hester hopped closer to his feet and sat down on a space behind a spot he might step on. "Not until you fly beneath the clouds, it isn't. But it's an experience I won't trade for anything," he said to the the lady with a smile.

"She's grounded right now, but if you want a ride, you just look for me." He removed his hat and placed it on his heart. "Scoresby's the name, Ma'am. Lee Scoresby."

"I wouldn't trade that for anything if I were you either," she agreed. "There's something about being up in the air that makes you feel young and free."

"A pleasure to meet, Mr. Scoresby," Cindy said offering her hand. "I'm Cynthia Cendrillon, but you can call me Cindy."

"Ms. Cindy," Lee said as he reached to take her hand for a shake. "Lovely name." He drew his hand back. "And how are you liking this odd version of New York, Ms. Cindy?"

"Just Cindy," she said, resting her chind on the back of her hand. "I like it well enough. Never a dull moment, right?"

Then again, Cindy's own New York was just slightly less odd.
