trying to work out how to denote Raven/Mystique in different forms, please bear with me
So this mystery woman was called Zatanna. The name, like the look, struck a familiar chord with Raven. She was sure that under less distracting circumstances she might be able to come up with where she'd seen this Zatanna before. Zatanna's tone, however, gave the impression that she would rather focus on the task at hand than hold conversation, so Raven didn't press her for questions.
Some more indecipherable commands came from Zatanna, followed by ropes and a wall appearing from thin air. If she was a mutant, this was a very groovy power. If not, Raven had no explanation for how Zatanna was pulling this off.
The attackers, which Zatanna called demons, looked to Raven like they all shared a similar physical mutation in the form of small horns on their heads, but if Zatanna was to be believed then they were "Hellspawn," not mutants. She shook her head. Charles might be able to understand or explain the difference. All Raven Mystique knew was that they had attacked her, so now it was time to fight back. Zatanna seemed more interested in defense rather than offense, but Mystique was itching to try some of the hand to hand combat techniques she'd been learning from Azazel before she'd gotten pregnant and had to stop training.
Slipping around Zatanna's spontaneously-constructed wall, Mystique charged at the leftmost demon-- the one standing in between the demon whom Zatanna had bound and the one whom Beast!Raven had kicked and who was now lying in a crumpled heap on the ground. Despite the fact that his comrades had been so quickly subdued, this demon didn't falter, his grip tightening on the chain which he wielded as a weapon. As Mystique closed the distance between them, he started swinging the chain over his head, obviously hoping to hit her with it once she got close enough.
Baring her teeth in a savage smile, Mystique continued toward him before dropping at the very last moment to take out his legs. She felt the heavy chain come down across her back and winced slightly, trying to remember Azazel's lectures about willpower over pain. Moving on to Azazel's next lesson, Mystique made to turn her opponent's weapon into his weakness by grabbing the chain, spinning him around several times until he faced the wall, and shoving him into the hard brick with her knee, thereby pinning the arm holding the chain stationary. She pulled back on her end of the chain sharply, choking the air out of the demon's lungs. This would be the point when Azazel would simply kill his opponent, but Mystique faltered for a moment, glancing back to see how Zatanna was faring.
