Cameron nodded, "The weather is nice in southern California. I'm from Palmdale, that's a little north of Los Angeles, up by Edwards Air Force Base."

"I really have no idea how a negotiater would make a living. Do you work for a police department or something like that? Or do you make business deals or labor contracts? It looks like you dress pretty well for work. Does it pay well?"

She shrugged. "Ballet is fun to watch if its done right. Doing it means a lot of physical training and practice. I do OK because I can pick up new parts, and Mr. Balanchine likes the way I take direction. Of course that doesn't make me popular with the other dancers. Have you been to see the New York Civic Ballet yet? I'm in the production of Harlequinade right now, one of the cast dancers, and I understudy the two primas."

"That means I don't have much of a life, so every now and then I go out for a late walk or for a drive in my car."
