Susan nodded in agreement. "Exactly right, Doctor."
"The supernatural as in the Monster Under the Bed, Hogfather, the Tooth Fairy, the Four Horsemen, angels, demons, Auditors, ghosts, all the mythic. When enough people have the same belief for long enough, the Universe tends to oblige by giving that belief form."
"What do you mean, how?" Susan raised one eyebrow and contemplated giving this Doctor a Look. "Grandfather could hardly say, 'Just take a number and I'll get around to you when I can'. Death has to be there on time every time, no matter how many of those times happen at once or where they happen, or how long they take. How would he ever get any time off if he couldn't go outside Time and Space for a little holiday every now and then? Of course for extended vacations, I have behaved as a proper granddaughter and taken care of things while he was away."
"I was conceived and born into Grandfather's Realm. He says that sometimes things are inherited through the soul rather than genetics."
Susan looked at the city around her before replying. "Impossible? Perhaps we should believe six impossible things before breakfast every day."
"Not the doing, the saying in public. You wouldn't comment on a physical handicap, would you? Then why a metaphysical one? Its not a trick or something. Its like the traveling. It just is."
