One thing for sure, Sayre had a sense of humour. Several packages had arrived that afternoon including: china patterns, fabric swatches and potential invite parchments. Moody had ceremoniously placed them in the middle of the dinner table. With it, was an engagement contract.
"Right, seems Sayre has a few requirements for this engagement," Moody began as they both entered the room. He was finding this all highly amusing and was even starting to regret ruining Mel's grand plan of match-making. He hadn't been on board with having a trainee at dinner (especially one with as many opinions as her) and he knew Frank had a limit.
Alice had actually gone to the trouble of producing a legal document. Even Mel would have been impressed with the level of detail.
He cleared his throat dramatically, "She's said here that the engagement can only go ahead if you burn your shorts--she indicates that you can do this with while wearing them. She says she will only ever see you for work related matters, you will live separately and have no children. She will not take your last name or make any indication to the world that you are married."
Other clauses in the contract included:
A bi-annual race along the Thames--timed, of course
A weekly dinner with the Sayre family; Ms. A Sayre would not be in attendance
"All reasonable. I reckon you should add in about door slamming," Moody said as he passed over the contract to Frank.
