Characters: Rab and Fay Setting: Mary's Car, January 8th Summary: First day back on the road! Status: incolmplete
Rab had enjoyed the time at home with his brother, but he could carry wait for the road trip to begin again. Things had felt so different at home. Rab didn't know of the air of suffocation was new, or if he just hadn't noticed it before. After all, before Fay he hadn't even known what it really meant to breathe.
He was scared, scared that the world was changing. Scared of what would happen when his family found him out. Scared of losing Rodolphus. But none of that could stop the fluttering of his heart as he walked toward Mary's car. Fay would be there.
He hesitated right before he got there, feeling suddenly self conscious and not sure why. He had nothing to hide from Fay anymore. He took a breath, gathered his courage, and crossed the distance between him and the golden haired boy.
"Hi." Rab smiled, eyes lighting up. His face was still bruised, the black eye now just shades of yellow and green, the splotch on his cheek still purple but greying out at the edges. His left hand was bandaged, hiding the deep lacerations across his palm and fingers. A gift of the China cabinet he'd destroyed. They were healing well enough, though no magic had been used on them. His mother had been furious with Rab, and thought he wouldn't learn his lesson if he was Healed.
