Presented to him by a second-year Narcissa paid. Note was sealed inside of an envelope.
Dear Sirius, As you know, my parents have forbidden me from seeking any further contact with you. Your father becomes furious whenever your name is mentioned, and I've heard that your mother burned your face off of the Black Family Tree. Regardless, I don't think that a single note will do much damage.
I don't wish to upset you with tales of our family. You don't really care, anyw I've seen you around campus--with Potter and his friends, taunting Severus Snape (who I kindly remind you is one of my fellow Potions tutors--he despises all four of you), strutting and swaying around. You live on your own. You ride a motorbike. You are, still, one of the cleverest people I know, and one of the easiest to distract.
And yet you're graduating. This warrents congratulations.
I'm sorry to say I don't have any gifts to give (if I were to buy something, Father would surely find out who it was for), so you'll have to make do with the sentiment. Despite my parents' wishes, I would like to see you again. Perhaps we could lunch together sometime.
