Nymphadora Black ([info]pinkonblack) wrote in [info]shards_of_time,

Previous Entry  Add to memories!  Tell a Friend!  Next Entry
WHO: Sirius and Nymphadora Black
WHERE: St. Mungo's
WHEN: Friday afternoon, after they've returned
WHAT: Confusion, man. Seriously.
RATING: TBD

Nymphadora sat sulking in the hospital room, rather annoyed. Whether or not they'd wound up in some alternate universe, which frankly sounded ridiculously, they were still stuck here until they were released.

They'd been poked and prodded, questioned and had all sorts of tests done. Nothing had changed; they'd passed all of them, and nothing was wrong. They'd just been out to lunch one moment and in the bloody Department of Mysteries the next. It was enough to give anyone a headache.

"Sirius," she said with a heavy sigh, reaching over to squeeze her husband's hand. "How long until we break out of here?"

Sirius didn't much like the idea of being in a world that was different from theirs, either. It was really confusing, as well as really inconvenient. As well as possibly an Andromeda to kick his arse for marrying her daughter. Great, he was probably in for it. It wasn't a pleasant thought, the arse kicking he'd get from his cousin, so he chose simply not to think about it. Instead, he returned the squeeze from Dora's hand, then slipped it out so he could put his arms around her. It was a little awkward, with them sitting on the hospital bed like they were, but he didn't care. All he cared about was her irritation. And his quietly grumbling stomach. And the gross hospital smell in the air. And--okay, so maybe there was a lot of other things to distract him, but Dora was the most important.

"Another eighty years, of course. But I'm sure we'll be out in half that time for good behaviour," he replied, his face pressed into her shoulder.

Dora rolled her eyes, but she was glad for his sense of humour, especially now. As scared as she was, she didn't want to show it, and with Sirius being himself, there was no reason to.

"I bet we could sneak out of here," she said in a low, secretive voice. "Think the house is still here?" Threading her fingers through his hair, she nuzzled the top of his head. "Or we could lock the door, give the mediwitches a nasty little surprise next time they check up on us."

Sliding her hand underneath his gown and around his waist, settling it on his hip, she eyed the door warily. "What do you think we're like here?"

"It's only like, three years in the 'future,' Dora, I'm sure the house is still here." He chuckled darkly at her suggestion. Always up for an adventure and some trouble, his girl. "As fun as that'd be, love, I think we should pass and give the good Mediwitches a break, yeah? Poor things are running themselves to death, trying to check all of us out; I'm sure the last thing they need is to walk in on us." Not that he didn't want to. Especially with her arm around his bare waist like that.

Her rapid transfer from one topic to the next amused him, and Sirius could not keep from yanking her chain further. "I'm sure I' exactly the same, but I bet you're fatter than a Hippogryff with a bit of something in here," he had slipped his own hand under her gown to rest on her stomach. If she wasn't required to keep her hands to herself, then Sirius sure as hell wasn't either.

Dora made a face. "I'm not sure this is the future," she admitted. "Not from the way they were looking at us. Did you see that Unspeakable's face when we told him your name?" And the fact that the mediwitch had referred to them as cousins. Which they were, but they'd gotten over that years ago, as had the majority of the Wizarding World, proper society being what it was and all. But just about everyone knew not to call her Nymphadora Tonks anymore.

She sighed dramatically, but let the topic of giving the mediwitches a show drop. Not the greatest way to make a first impression. Bringing up her weight, however, was rewarded with a solid poke in the ribs. "You are determined to get me up the duff. I still have a year left before we deal with that, thank you," she said in a huff. "No fair cheating." A moment later, however, she relaxed. "Your hand's really warm."
