"Yeah, maybe one day I'll get desperate enough," Adrian replied. "But now I'm not so sure if the dress isn't coming on." He wasn't even sure if he could say he was joking because he wasn't sure if he was and he wasn't sure it wouldn't hurt Kane's feelings in some weird roundabout way. In their current situation, making an honest man out of either of them was probably just telling people they were together in the first place, wedding vows and legal rights were for other people somehow. Adrian wasn't going to claim that was never going to change. "Do honest men usually wear dresses?" he joked instead of trying to examine it all too closely. "No wonder there's so few of them."
“I dunno, don’t think I know many honest men.” Kane gave another little nose huff. “I’d guess a man in a wedding dress is being pretty honest with himself though.” He tried to picture himself in a big floofy white gown for about two seconds and had to laugh. No, they would both look much better in sharp suits, like what Adrian had been wearing tonight but even better, looking their clean cut best and standing in front of each other, staring down their future. It felt like a vague dream for other people, but he could see it so clearly at the same time. All that was a long way down the road, if it was in their cards at all. Only one person in Adrian’s family even knew about him, jumping to wedding daydreams was ludicrous.
"I'd guess so," Adrian agreed, still laughing quietly. That was a good take on his dumb joke and it stopped his spiraling right at the start. He thought about telling Kane something about how he didn't need to be an honest man for Adrian to love him but that came with some spiraling too so he opted against it, kissing him instead. Neither of them would wear a dress or both of them would wear a dress, that was the whole point. It would be a gay fucking wedding and he had a feeling everyone would be better dressed than them if it ever came to it. It was hard to imagine getting all crazy about it, if they wanted to get married they'd probably just elope and not ever tell anyone. Or maybe that was just him. He quieted his mind because there were too many questions there that weren't relevant to their life right now. He had no idea what they'd want a year from now - five years from now - ten... It was too weird to even think about that kind of time when neither of them was really normal. So kissing until they got too sleepy to do so was better and he let himself simply enjoy Kane's groping as he groped him back, slowly getting sleepier and less coordinated.
