It was nice to hear that he didn’t blame her for fucking up the party for him or accuse her of trying to pick a fight or something. Roxy briefly closed her eyes at the kiss, one of her hands lifting to lightly touch his arm while he was close. She nodded a little, to both of his questions. She felt like she’d been trying for a long time, but maybe she needed to try differently. Try something else. Roxy didn’t know yet. “Yeah, I’m gonna use the bathroom, I’ll be out in a minute,” she murmured. Roxy wouldn’t linger too much longer, she didn’t want Mila to feel bad, but she wanted to clean her face up a bit and get her walls up again.
Caden pulled back, reaching down briefly to scratch Rude behind the ears, before he turned to head back outside. It felt like the conversation was being left unfinished, but this wasn't really the time or place for it and people outside would start to notice if they were gone much longer. And honestly, he really wasn't sure what more he could say. He certainly didn't think he'd be able to say anything to make her feel better about any of this. Caden paused at the back door. "You want a drink or something?"
Roxy didn’t want to feel like she was Causing A Scene or anything, and if Caden hadn’t come in after her, she probably would have been back outside already, pretending to be happy. Roxy bent her head to kiss the dog’s thick skull, then nudged Rude off of her so she could stand up and head for the bathroom. “Grab a beer for me?” she asked, and gave him a little smile. It didn’t quite reach her eyes, but it was something. It was nice of him to offer, and that was something too. Maybe it would be all of the little steps that eventually got them somewhere, as long as they kept moving forward.
