Aaron waited until all of the family was there and settled in with their food, plus the few who weren't blood but were close enough. He had some news for them, and even though Caden already knew, he wanted to make a formal sort of announcement to his family. Mila had given him the green light to do so, and while she might not have quite wanted it to be a Big Thing, it was to Aaron. Gavin was slowly coming back to life, he was on a good path with Charlie. Kat was settling in again. Amelia seemed as happy as she could be under the circumstances. He and Caden had done their last duty for Joseph. It felt like time.
With a little smile at Mila, Aaron stood up from the plastic yard chair he'd been sitting in. "Hey guys," he said to everyone sitting around, waiting until all the conversations trailed off and he had their attention. Aaron gave them all a crooked smile. "Hey, uh ... I just wanted to let everybody know, while we're all together ... me and Mila have some good news." He glanced down at his love, then back to his family, unable to stop the grin spreading over his face. "Mila's pregnant." It felt easier to tell them than it had been with Caden, since his brother seemed to have the harshest opinions about everything. He'd said that Aaron would be a good dad -- at least better than Joseph -- and it had done a lot for his confidence. Aaron already knew Kat would be happy, he just hoped Gavin could feel the same.
