WEATHER AND NOTABLE EVENTS Sunday, September 10-Saturday, September 16
Sunday, September 10: Weather: Sunny; 65°/52°
EVENTS
→ The weather cooperates for the second day of the Main Street Market. Like the day before, the market is open from 11am to 6pm. Various vendors and shops from around town have set up booths to sell clothing, jewelry, produce, crafts and more. There are also kettle corn, ice cream and coffee, but no beer vendors today!
→ Mercy Hospital board member and local entrepreneur Veronica Kelly announces the 2nd Annual Bachelor(ette) Auction to help raise money for the hospital. Anyone (who is single, of course) who wishes to participate are asked to send in their information by Saturday, the 16th. The auction (open to everyone in town) will take place on September 23rd at the Overlook Country Club. Don't be worried about planning that perfect date! All "winning" bids come with date packages donated by sponsors.
Those who wish to participate can sign up for the fundraiser through Mrs. Kelly or the hospital.
MOD NOTE: If your character wishes to participate in the auction, or be a bidder, please comment on this post. All comments are screened.
→ Belladonna's store hours have been amended for this week only, as its owner, Reagan Kelly, is out of town. The store will be open from 10am-3:00pm through Saturday, the 16th.
Monday, September 11: Weather: Partly cloudy; 67°/47°
EVENTS
→ Directly after morning mass at St. Dismas, Father O'Shea will hold a special 9/11 Memorial Service.
→ The PPPD are called mid-morning by the Chief of Staff at Mercy Hospital to report that one of their doctors, Nicole Thornton, has not shown up for work. A welfare check is completed, and it appears as though Dr. Thornton has packed up and move away quite suddenly. All attempts to contact her are unsuccessful and all signs point to the fact that she has simply left town.
Her hospital badge is found in the parking lot, but you know, people drop things all the time...
→ A grave in the cemetery is found to be vandalized, except this time, the grave has been completely dug up. The coffin was cracked opened, but thankfully, the corpse, or what's left of it, remains inside. The PPPD cannot tell is anything was taken from the coffin, although one of the fingers is missing. Whether it was gone before or after death is not determined.
Tuesday, September 12: Weather: Sunny without a cloud in the sky; 71°/51° EVENTS
→ Mercifully, it's a quiet, beautiful day in Point Pleasant. Enjoy it.
Wednesday, September 13: Weather: Sunny and crisp; 66°/51° EVENTS
→ For any students interested, the first meeting of S.A.F.E., the Sexuality Alliance for Everyone club, is being held after school at 3:30 in Room 112 by Sabrina Cox and Mak Richberg. The group will brainstorm potential events to be held both at school, and around town, to raise awareness for equality.
→ Loomis Gifts & Antiques is offering a 50% off sale for their entire inventory. Come on in and take a look around. You might be surprised at what you find!
MOD NOTE: If your character plans on making a purchase at the store, please let mods know ahead of time!
Thursday, September 14: Weather: Rainy all day; 64°/51° EVENTS
→ A bit of a rainy, gloomy day in Point Pleasant, but otherwise, quiet.
→ Thanks to dental records, the body from Cooperdale Tunnel has been identified as George Norman, a man from Bangor who had gone missing three weeks ago. His family cannot explain how or why he would have ended up in Point Pleasant, only that he had been off of his medications and had been 'hearing voices' for a few days before he went missing.
The death has certainly sparked some fresh interest in the Cooperdale Tunnel. Police tape is still up and around the crime scene, but is that really going to stop anyone who really wants to hike out there and take a look?
Friday, September 15: Weather: Cloudy; 69°/53° EVENTS
→ The Chamberlain Wolves are away tonight, playing the Wells Warriors. Sadly, they lose by a last second field goal, with a score of 24-21.
→ The PPPD announce the retirement of their longtime clerk, Rose, who will be leaving the department in two weeks. A replacement is being sought.
→ Tonight, another grave is dug up in the Point Pleasant Cemetery close to midnight. It's a fresher grave, and the corpse is missing, something no one is bound to discover until morning, unless the cemetery caretaker happens upon it (hopefully by not falling into it) during his patrol. Clearly this is more than mere vandalism...
Saturday, September 16: Weather: Sunny and brisk; As nightfall sets in, a light rain begins and continues through the night; 65°/51° EVENTS
→ The Fright Series at the Orion continues tonight with George A. Romero's Night of the Living Dead! Come out and be spooked! Really, the screening had been planned weeks ago... the recent vandalism at the cemetery is merely a coincidence!
→ Tonight, just after the rain begins, several people in Point Pleasant have a somewhat... disturbing experience with a mirror throughout the evening. Oh, the mirror works just as it should, except after a moment it becomes quite clear that their reflection is not exactly a reflection, as it has stopped mimicking their movements. Instead, their mirror version begins pounding on the other side of the mirror, their lips parted in a soundless scream. This continues for only a few moments before they begin shouting something. While there is no sound at all, it seems their mirror self is trying to warn them... what are they trying to say? They are coming.
As long as the mirror is still in one piece during this encounter, their mirror self will disappear quickly after this warning, with something dark and shadowy yanking them back away from the mirror and into darkness. The mirror will return to being nothing more than a regular mirror after this... their reflection once again a normal reflection.
What the hell just happened? Was that real? Oh, maybe they're ill, or just overtired, perhaps they ate something bad at dinner, or smoked a bad batch of weed. How do you explain something so bizarre without sounding like a lunatic?? And what did that even mean.. They are coming? Who, or what, is they?
