Prompt: Let slip the dogs of war.
Summary: The consequences of war for the victors and down trodden.
A/N: I never draw faces, this was very difficult for me (which is the point of a challenge I guess) so forgive me for any oddities. Well... enjoy.

The dreams were driving him insane. Severus grit his teeth and raked his fingers through his hair.

“They’re shaking again,” Ron stated, the chain jangling as he approached. “Have another dream?”

“Shut up.”

“You shouldn’t drink... makes dreams feel real.”

“I suppose you'd know?” The question came as a snarl. Fear made him angry-- here was the perfect outlet. Severus reached out, gripped the chain and jerked the boy forward. “What would you know? Here -- in this fucking tower -- there's no war here -- only you pretty whores.”

Ron's blue eyes were ablaze with fury, his mouth a fierce snarl. “Whose fault is that?”

Like Lily; passionate, freckled and unafraid of Severus' demons.

“Shut up, boy.”

All of this is really lovely...but what really keeps drawing me back (and what would also kill the picture for me if it were wrong) is the eyes. Their eyes are so terribly intense and drawn to each other. That is what really makes this work for me. I don't even really see most of the picture when I look at it--I keep being drawn into the battle between their eyes.

Very powerful painting and ficlet.

Wow - I never really considered how Ron could be reminiscent of Lily (although I did Ginny so how weird is that considering my usual slash lens?)

I love Ron's defiant look even though he's not in a position to fight back. Seems he's a good matched for troubled Snape here. I love the textures and mottled colors. I think you did the faces quite well. I love the intensity between them.

Thank you! Ron's not the type to give up or to give in, which i think is what snape needs in dystopia. I'm glad i could illustrate his resistance :?)

And as for my Ron and Lilly similarities, they actually came about when i was reading book 5. Neither one of them has patience for bullies, both have quick tempers, will go the extra mile for a friend (unless they feel scorned) and both are red heads XD (I've always had a thing for red hair ever since i was a wee ankle biter). The Ginny and Lilly comparison that's seen in a lot of fics doesn't work for me. They're too different in my opinion. I cant see Lily ever consenting to staying behind and wait for her man. I think she'd be the kind of woman who would stand on the battlefield with him fighting tooth and nail.

not to mention i just really hate Ginny.

I love your Ron. He is so defiant. And his snarly lips (That's not an easy facial expression to get right, and it is perfect).
And the eyes. The intensity of their gazes.
The hand and chain in the foreground, with the thumb applying pressure adds a lot of tension to the picture though it's not obvious at first, because their eyes draw us in.
Did you right the drabble before or after the drawing?

	It's a very interesting picture. Ron looks so vulnerable, yet defiant. But, Severus? He looks so sad! I think he's grateful for Ron's presence, if only to keep his demons at bay a bit longer. Good work, Sweets! (Reply to this) (Thread)

	I never thought of Ron-as-Lily, so this came as a surprise to me. Honestly, the look in Ron's eyes says it all. His defiance is brilliant here. I'm glad to see this pairing as well. I think it's the first I've ever seen. Well done. : ) (Reply to this) (Thread)

I think Ron and lily share some traits; Hatred of bullies, quick tempers, too stubborn to give in, will go the extra mile for a friend (unless they feel scorned), Willing to stay and fight no matter what and both are red heads! And it makes Ron all the more Snape Compatible XD

If you're interested in the pairing i suggest you look into some of

starstruck1986's work. She writes them so incharacter and so well that it tends to slip right into place times.

	I love this! You did an amazing job of conveying Snape's frustration and his inner turmoil--his 'demons', as you say, and Ron is so perfectly Gryffindorian and ideally... i always disliked the way so many promising characters were treated by jkr. i loved ginny but then in the end of book 6(?) she was less self confident than i seemed, and hermione who was a great character in the beginning was by the end of book 5 an annoying mum-substitute.

and especially ron: he is smart and complex but very often used for comic relief. and i also thought like snape he deserved to be treated better!

i quite like ron/snape pairings so i adored your intense picture and words! very well done!

	Oh yeah. I couldn't agree with you more. I think JKR got sick of the series and said "Eff character development for you guys" after a little while. Hermione became a nag, Ginny never developed beyond "I LOVE harry potter cuz he's awesome! and Harry Potter! and he has Oedipus syndrome!" and my poor Ron sighs and thank you so much ^^ I'm glad you enjoyed my piece (Reply to this) (Parent)
