REVIVING SEVERUS *sighs* Challenge!

We all know the epilogue didn’t happen quite the way Rowling dictated it, yes? There were just a a few things she got wrong. Like our darling Severus. *pets him*

So in honor of us sighers hitting the three year mark and in honor of our favorite Potions master’s birthday, we are going to REVIVE SEVERUS!!!



Has this idea been done before? You bet your sweet ass it has! BUT IT HAS NEVER BEEN DONE BY THE SIGHERS, WHO WILL ROCK THIS IDEA LIKE A PERVERTED ROCKING HORSE!

SO! The details, which have been laboriously and whiningly cultivated by your darling mods:

This is considered a challenge. If you’re not quite up to Long Fic of Epicness, that is OK! We promise! We will not judge you or look at you with damp, tear-filled eyes and quivering lips of WOE.

Fics should be between 500 and 2k words, but if Severus really gets going we will accept your 80k masterpiece. *cough* Snow */cough*

Likewise, drawbles can be doodles, simple line drawings with a single character, photographs of men in frock coats, ice sculptures, wall-sized oil paintings and anatomically correct yarn dolls. If you feel the compulsion to recreate Michaelangelo’s “David,” you will not be rejected. (We suspect Severus will be much better hung.)

I want all the fic on how Severus survives the war! I want Harry using a time turner and going back to warn Severus that Voldemort is going to kill him (and it doesn't have to just be Harry. It could be anyone).

I want McGonagall telling Severus not to let his guard down, that this battle could very well be his last. I want Lucius to slip him a potion, or Narcissa to cast a spell. Maybe Bellatrix does something b/c she wants the joy of killing him herself, over and over.

I want familial bonds, life bonds. I WANT SOMEONE TO USE POLYJUICE, OMG!

Maybe some other Death Eater is duped by Severus who polyjuices him and uses the imperious curse to ensure that he is not the victim of Voldemort's distrust and madness.

Does he just need to die? THEN KILL HIM! Only, please, for the love of all things shiny, don’t kill him in a boathouse! Because, JFC. You know?

Maybe Severus’ work isn't done and he spends his time as a ghost following Harry around and being like, I SWEAR TO GOD IF YOU GET YOURSELF KILLED AND I AM FOREVER STUCK LIKE THIS I WILL TELL SOMEONE HOW TO REVIVE YOU JUST SO I CAN KILL YOU AGAIN!

And after Severus dies, he comes back as a ghost. Malignant or benign. Possessive or bored. Whatevs, yo. Or Lily gets pissed off at his Gryffindor approach to the ever life (Slytherins don’t do martyrdom, after all) and nags him until he is like, “FFS, wench, FINE! My body is still in a coma, I shall return to it post haste. May the werewolf choke to death for all eternity happily shredding your endoplasmic residue to dust.”

Or, if you want him to die, kill him WITH PASSION! If he is going to die, he is taking that snake, Harry, the Shrieking Shack, a portion of the forest, and the Dark Lord with him. Think the final scene in Poltergeist when the house just caves in upon itself and vanishes into a dot onto another dimension. Who needs Harry to win the war when the main players are gone, amiright?

AMNESIA FIC, OMG, YES! Severus survives, thinks he’s a Muggle, believes he is some sort of prophet with the “magic” he can produce, and goes on to become an Evangelical speaker hosting revivals. (And, accioslash? If you draw this image for me I am willing to become your slave forever. Just saying.)

Perhaps his body is cryogenically frozen and he wakes up 50 years in the future to discover a changed world, under the dubious protection of former Gryffindors. Oohh, OMG, NEXT-GEN pairing OR!!! Older!Harry with younger!Severus with Harry now the one in a position of authority. *dies at just-this-moment new kink* TORINO10154, ARE YOU READING THIS!?

Or portions of his brain are donated to science, implanted in someone else, and he starts … OMG, I need to stop reading sci-fi.

I DON’T CARE WHAT YOU WRITE OR DRAW, SO LONG AS THE THEME IS “REVIVAL!”

Ok, that’s a lie. I care. I care deeply. I want someoldcat to draw me revived!Snack even though that is not my pairing. I want Claire rocking her Snucius vibe. I want Daisy with her death tolls and sadface characters. I want veridari with her “there must be a happy ending, OMG!” art. I want Berta and Mrs. Cake and Ari going, “All the prompts! My brain cannot compute!” and then starting something for them all.

I want LD7 to rip Severus’ heart out and be all, “REVIVAL MY ASS!” (Which … *ponders* Considering Snow’s love of things being shoved up Severus’ ass … can you shove a revival up there?)

I want ginger and her persistent devotion to Severus/Hermione. I want Snupin! I want torina to look doubtfully at the list and be all, “Must. Write. Fluff!” I want Annie to glance disdainfully at this list and be all, “WHERE IS THE KINK?! HE LIVES BECAUSE HIS PET WAS ORDERED TO MAKE HIM SURVIVE, JFC!” before cracking her whip. I want severa to rock a Severus/Random Elves story that will make us all blink a bit. I want awesomely random trio’s. Yes, yes I do.

I want lurkers to poke their head in and be all, “I would write/draw, but the fear! The hesitation!” Just so I can say, “Screw that! The doubt, it cripples us all. RAGE AGAINST THE DYING OF THE LIGHT! I WANT IT ALL!”

MAKE THIS HAPPEN, PEOPLE!

Posting starts January 10th, which is a Monday, according to Snow and logic.

Please submit all entries to severus.sighs@gmail.com by Friday, though because roo we endorse procrastination we will accept them through Saturday.

Reminder: All entries must be BETA READ.

There will be an official post made January 5th for people searching for beta readers or offering to beta for others.
