Nymphadora Tonks: Who are You? & Stress
Dora looks around the cafe, surprised at how many people are there but she doesn't recognize many people at all. Her brows knit when she sees Sirius and then again at the sight of Harry, but she can't sort out the odd feeling in her belly that comes as a result. She wonders if she ate too much jelly.

With a bit of help from Xellos to keep from falling over, she stands on her chair, clutching a large stuffed bear that's nearly as large as she is. She peeks out over the top of his head for a minute until most people are looking at her and a bit less noisy.

Her voice starts out quietly but gains volume as she gains confidence even as her hair morphs from a mousy brown to an increasingly bright pink. "Hullo. I'm... I'm Dora. Nymphadora Tonks. But you can call me Dora like Mummy and Daddy do when m'not in trouble. But sometimes Daddy calls me Bumblebee. And m'five." She holds up all the fingers on her right hand in illustration.

"I live in the lonely room under the roof of Mr Holmes' house but it's not lonely now because it has me and Agnes and Teddy!" She holds up the large bear. "This is Teddy! And Agnes is the lamb that Mr Trunk gave me on the beach when I came here but Xellos said she had to stay home today and that I could only bring Teddy with me."

"And I've never turned m'self into a poletag or anything like that when'm upset but sometimes my hair gets stuck or I cry and Mummy and Daddy give me hugs and I have Teddy to hug now too. And Xellos! And Iago!" She giggles and points at them, nearly toppling over but managing to right herself at the last minute. "And Daddy says that crying's okay sometimes but that laughing's better than any potion cause it comes from inside and happiness and family's best for that."

She nods succinctly with the fierce importance only a young child can muster then she sits down and resumes pushing the last bit of jelly around in her bowl.

"You don't? Not even when your Mummy and Daddy are sick with a cold? Or when you have to take a potion for it?"

He eyes grow rather impossibly wide at this and she looks around, expecting someone to tell him to stop, but no one does. "Err-"

"L? Like the letter? That comes after K?"

OH yeah- he'd pout. ;)

"My mother and father are dead. Are your Mummy and Daddy sick often?" He eats more sugar, offering the bowl to her again. "A potion?"

He nods. "Yes. Dora is short for something-?"

Her smile falters at this. "I... I'm sorry. That's sad." She shakes her head. "No but Daddy had a yucky snotty cold once when he came home from South 'merica and he made Mummy and I sick and we had to take potions to get better and they tasted yucky too!"

She nods again. "It's short for Nymphadora. Is L short for something?"

"It is sad," he echoes, but it is a leveled statement without emotion. He cocks his head, as if to figure it out. Sad. "Potions are medicine?"

He shakes his head. "No. Only L. Where are your mother and father?"

She nods. "Sometimes. And sometimes they're bad."

"Why?" She shrugs a little, squishing her bear close. "They didn't come with me. I don't know?"

"When are they bad?" He is curious now.

He nods. "Do you have brothers or sisters?"

She shrugs. "When they make you ill or make you grow another head or poison you or turn your bones to water so you're just a big pile of people jelly!" She says this a bit too enthusiastically, but it's something that her dad has often teased her about.

Dora shakes her head. "No. Mummy and Daddy say that I'm exactly what they wanted and they are happy just with me." She lowers her voice conspiratorially. "I asked cause Charlie has brothers and his mummy's fat with another baby again."

"People jelly-" he echoes her, eying her with interest. "Potions are medicine, then?"

He nods at her conspiratorial smile. "She is pregnant." It's said in the same tone.

"Yes! But not the type that you'd eat though Mummy cut the jelly into people shapes once!" She nods again. "Uh huh. And some of them taste yucky. And some make smoke come out your ears!"

Dora giggles. "Yes! Pregnant!" She pauses and looks at him. "Why don't you smile? Are you sad?"

"People jelly of blood and bones?" He is curious about that. The child is five. "Like medicine."

"Yes." He looks back at her, confused by the 'sad' again. "I am not sad." He blinks and tries an approximation of a smile.
