Who: Caradoc and Dorcas
Where: A pub
When: June 6, evening
What: Drinking the Night Away
Warnings: Well...drinking, and probably free use of language.

"Meadowes!" Caradoc called as he knocked on his friend's door. Despite what some people thought, Caradoc enjoyed a fun night out--even if to him, a fun night out was filled with alcohol and sarcasm. He hadn't gotten truly drunk since his attack; he'd been to cautious to let himself get out of control. He wasn't sure about that night, though. Nothing had really happened in the last month and a half, and nothing that could be traced back to knowledge he may or may not have given out.

So maybe tonight was the night. "Standing in front of your door isn't much bloody fun, you know."

Caradoc snorted dismissively. It was very like her to try to play up his attributes, even with qualifiers like 'creepy' and 'standoffish'. "Right. Oliver, all six foot three of him, was clearly pretty intimidated." He was about ready for another round; after all, they were there to drink, were they not? He asked the bartender for another set of drinks for the two of them. "So, what else is there to talk about? The rising price of floo powder? The latest Wizengamot scandal? Hogwarts' controversial something-or-other?"

Dorcas smirked a bit, as always, when reminded of Caradoc's height; she was the taller of the two by a good couple of inches, and seldom missed a chance to remind him. ("Oh, let me reach that for you, the shelf's a bit high...") She chose to let this opportunity go by, though, in favor of needling him about something else instead.

"What a good host you are, Caradoc, so smoothly guiding the conversation from family chit-chat to office gossip to world affairs. Yes, let's do talk about the Wizengamot, I couldn't have come up with a more scintillating subject myself."

"Too bad; I'm much more well-versed in the Floo prices. I'm sure you read my latest story in the Prophet," Caradoc pointed out, doing his best to cover his btterness with a joke. "But the Wizengamot it is. Apparently someone did something he or she oughtn't have done, and instead of coming clean about it covered it up, so now both the issue itself and the coverup are, in fact, the scandal. Same story, different month."

"I did read your article, actually," Dorcas replied. "I read them all. Sometimes I even cut them out and stick them on the fridge to show them off." Well, the last bit was an exaggeration, but she did read them, at least most of the time. "And I have to say," she added, "since your articles are just about the only thing I do read in the Prophet lately, it is a great personal loss to me, too, that they're not giving you interesting stories. They lost me with the coverage of that, what's her name, Wilkes girl situation."
