Previous Entry  Add to memories!  Tell a Friend!  Next Entry
Who; Kathleen Grimshaw and Rupert Wilkes
What; Taking a walk and talking
When; Evening when the students came back
Where; Courtyard to start off then who knows
Status; In progress/Incomplete

Kathleen closed her journal and let out a sigh. Pulling her hair back and letting the shorter strands of hair fall infront of her face, she picked up her journal and set it down beside her bed. After telling her dormmates that she would be going for a walk, she grabed what she needed and headed off to meet Rupert in the courtyard.

A part of her wasn't sure if she did want company on her walk, but she did enjoy Rupert's company. It was better than being by herself, if she were alone it would give her an excuse to be upset and the last thing she wanted to do was start crying. While she hadn't cried since Jonathan's funeral, there were reminders that would make her eyes burn and sometimes a few tear drops would form but she would always force herself to think about something else. Crying wouldn't do any good.

When she arrived at the courtyard, she wasn't sure if he was already there waiting for her or not. So Kathleen decided to sit down on one of the stone benches and wait for him. Breathing in the fresh air did make her feel slightly better. Glancing down at her feet, she kicked at one of the rocks as she humed to herself.

Oh, Rupert should have announced himself before he just sat down. He made a mental note to do that next time. In case she got upset with him. Or something. Rupert did not pretend to understand the inner workings of the female mind. "That's alright," He told her. "I should have said something."

Well was a relative term. But right now, Rupert supposed he was well and thus could say so without being too far from the truth. "I am, thank you," He said. Because he was almost certain she didn't want to hear a lengthy explanation about why he was confused about life concerning girls and Maude's new... hobby, and this attack and how his friends could have been hurt and what was he doing about any of it? Nothing at all. But he was trying.. sort of. "How are you doing?"

"I'm doing alright." There was no need to go into her inner feelings at the moment. She was sure that Rupert wouldn't want to hear it. Kathleen was sure that he had enough to deal with at the moment. Right now, what she needed was a good distraction from the rest of the world.

"So, would you perhaps like to go for a walk? Could be better than sitting on this uncomfortable benches."

"I don't know, uncomfortable benches are a favourite of mine," Rupert offered, smiling vaguely. Because going for walks was tricky business. "But yes, I think so," He said, standing up.

It wouldn't be that bad, because Kathleen was a friend. And he was well capable of going on a friendly walk. "Did you get much work done over the holidays?" Rupert asked, unsure if this was a bad subject or not. Because talking of the Holidays could remind her about events, and that was probably what she didn't want reminding of? No one wanted to be reminded of all the attacks happening. But homework was a non-issue, so it seemed easy enough to talk about. "I did some, but it was hard to focus," He said.

"Sadly, I didn't get a whole lot done. Which is probably not the best idea for my situation, since OWLs will be coming up soon." Kathleen replied shaking her head. It was hard to forget her exams were coming up, Professors continued to hound the students with piles and piles of homework and becoming more strict on their markings.

"I agree, it was hard to focus." Most of the time she slept. It was easy for her to ignore everything when she was sleeping and from what she experienced, it was a good thing too. She felt more refreshed now and realized that she probably had been missing out on a good amount of sleep before the holiday started. Kathleen wanted to ask if his family was alright. But she was sure he wouldn't want to talk about it, like Kathleen wasn't sure if she wanted to talk about Jonathan. "Are they really as terrible as they say? The OWLs I mean."
