WHO Lily Evans, Emmeline Vance, Professor Dumbledore WHAT Order stuff WHERE Dumbledore's office WHEN TONIGHT AFTER DINNER
It was with great hesitation and some particularly fluttery butterflies in her stomach that Lily Evans approached the headmaster's office after dinner. She bade her friends goodbye very shortly after the meal began, excusing herself with a stomachache. That wasn't very far from the truth since Lily was nervous about this meeting. She had never been in serious trouble, and therefore had never been called to the Headmaster's office; there was just no explicable reason behind this request, and yet Lily felt as if she had done all the wrong in the world as she walked to the gargoyle that hid the professor's office. Lily rapped on the door leading to the office of the old man with the twinkling blue eyes, and then waited.
"Come in, Lily," Dumbledore's voice echoed beyond the door, where Lily stood waiting. She pushed open the door and as she walked into the office, Lily observed the moving portraits of past Headmasters and Headmistresses, some who sniffed their noses at her most disdainfully. Strewn about the room was a vast collection of magical artifacts unlike anything Lily had ever seen before, and it was only the Headmaster's commanding voice that called her back to attention. "I suppose, Miss Evans, that you have no idea why I called you hear tonight?"
Lily looked, and saw a familiar figure seated in front of Dumbledore's desk. She had seen that person before. Emmeline Vance. "Er--" Lily's gaze shifted from Emmeline to Dumbledore, and Lily felt a sharp sting of annoyance. Had Emmeline gone to Dumbledore and told her of Lily's involvement in this Order? Was he going to stop her? Lily steadfastly ignored Emmeline's gaze. "No, sir. I don't."
