JLA: Classified #14
For F-Yeah! week, I present possibly the best Oracle page in the last seven years:

The JLA have not been lost, because I'm still here.

I miss this Oracle more than mere words can express (unless there's some UTF-16 sigil that embodies deperate, mournful longing).

This was the Warren Ellis arc, using Morrisons' "Big Seven" JLA, wasn't it? The one where they get kidnapped by a War-God & for some inexplicable reason Kyle is wearing green mecha armour throughout?

Pretty much everything about this arc was awesome. I really, really miss that team.

Never a big fan of the "Big Seven" (only by virtue of never keeping up with JLA, nothing against them), but I do miss Oracle being a JLA-level hero.

Ah, the days of the Morrison/Waid/Kelly JLA were awesome. Oracle, Plastic Man, Steel & Big Barda on the team. God-level threats every five minutes & no whiny mopey people talking about their feelings, just good solid superheroics & insane feats of strength, genius & daring.

The only major problems with Morrison's arc for me were how practically every "crowning moment of awesome" came with a contrived speech that I just could not buy that it had been made up on the spot. Some of the dialog in general was a bit like that too.

I don't know if Morrison wrote it, but one time they used his League and did a thing where Kobra switched their bodies. At the end Oracle was musing that Superman must stay so close to Clark Kent and Lois Lane so he has someone to write his speeches.

It was the one-shot "Foreign Bodies", and it wasn't by Morrison, but I can't remember who wrote it.

It was a nifty as hell story, though. I'd recommend it.

Oh yeah. The current run of JLA should hang it's head in shame when it thinks about the past volume.

And "Cry for Justice" should just not exist.

There was a Blog@ post a while back that pointed out if you determined the JLA roster by what characters sold the best in their own titles, it would be: Batman (Dick Grayson), Flash (Barry Allen), Green Lantern (Hal Jordan), Power Girl, Superman, Supergirl, and Oracle.

That's a team I would buy.

The JLA have not been lost. Because I'm still here.

Anyone who can say that and make you believe it should always be on the JLA.

NOTE TO DC EDITORIAL:
Superman, Wonder Woman, Batman, Flash, Green Lantern, Martian Manhunter, Oracle. THEY ARE THE BIG SEVEN. THEY CAN SAY THAT AND MAKE YOU BELIEVE IT.

I don't own much by Warren Ellis, but I *loved* this story. Everyone got to be ass-kickingly awesome. The way it should be, damn it (to be fair, my personal favourite moment was J'Onn versus President Lex, but this was close).

I really wish Oracle could be in those kinds of "big" stories again, actually playing a main role.
