Looks like all those sessions on the rack have done wonders.
Proof that even as stretchy as CLAMP's character designs have gotten lately (and boy howdy, have they ever. 'sup, Yuuko?), they'll never touch Liefeld's.

One page from Avengers volume 2, #1.

I think when someone's complimented by the phrase "miles of legs", it's not supposed to be this literal. Damn, woman.

And this is why I, who grew up with the likes of Neal Adams, Don Newton, George Perez, Curt Swan, Dick Dillin and Jose Luis Garcia-Lopez (to pick a few at random) could only look on in confused despair while the next generation of comic fans went into paroxysms of joy over... well, "crap" like this (and the inverted commas are there out of consideration for actual crap which at least has valid uses as a fertiliser)

Even when those guys were not producing their absolute best, you could be fairly sure of things like "basic human anatomy",

Even if Amora did invest in Extend-O-Legs on her last trip to the As Seen On TV store...

Clearly, she was naked while helping Loki out.

I think her legs consumed her hip mass.

Good Lord! Her feet should be where the tops of her boots are, at most, and that's given a very long pair of legs in proportion to the rest of her, knee-level or so would be better. I think her super-long legs ate at least half the mass of her lower torso, and that's if she's supposed to be slender with large breasts. In defense of CLAMP, the most stretchy things I've seen them do are both less stretchy than the image of Enchantress, and more proportionately stretchy. *looks back at the picture, and shudders*

Actually, that came up in a discussion I had with someone else about the difference and I agree. With CLAMP's work these days (save Code Geass, and their designs got considerably altered between the sketches they did and the final animation style used by the studio, so I'll forgive it), everything is elongated. Necks, torsos, hands, legs, feet, arms. All of it. It still looks awkward and noodley, but it somewhat works because everything is still proportionate to each other, just massively exaggerated. Whereas in the Liefeld piece, you have a warped, squished up torso, a regular-length neck, regular arms, tiny hands, and... those legs.

See, personally, I'm more of a fan of CLAMP's earlier works, like Card Captor Sakura, Clamp School Detectives, and Man of Many Faces. But even though I'm not particularly fond of a stretched-out, noodley stylization form, I'm still perfectly happy to acknowledge that it's still a proper stylization form, as opposed to simply anatomy bad enough to make my eyes burn. I'm not going to say that everything that man draws is automatically bad, but I've been mentally scarred by enough examples to want to avoid his work where possible, the super-legs illustration of Enchantress merely supporting this. *sigh* Let me put it this way. I read Saint Seiya for the great plot, while fully aware that the art is less than superb. There's some odd stylization for certain, and the perspective has been known to be off, even if the overall effect is still pretty cool. However, the anatomy there is sooooo much less glaring even at its worst.

But - but in the panel where she's reaching down, there are no gloves. In the next one, she's wearing gloves. Did she really take the time to put them on after helping him up? Are they that important to her?
