Bruce vs. Shiva - ... It is a concious choice to read the story that Shiva was mind-controlled, yet it is often shouted as the defense for the fight. I wouldn't shout, I'd just say that Bruce says that she is or she isn't. If she is, then the pieces fit, so I would make the assumption and give the writer a pass. If she's not, you're absolutely right, Bruce thinks of poor little Selina, which causes Bruce to break Shiva's arm and roundhouse her into next week. Ridiculous.
Bruce vs. Artemis - I don't really know why the dart would be for Diana, as Bruce is actually working with her here. That would be all me -- my projection on Bruce, that he used one of his anti-Diana weapons on another Amazon. One scenario goes (1) Diana gets taken over by a Starro-fish, (2) Bruce fires a deception weapon that makes a big flash-bang in her face -- while kicking her in her calf with the actual weapon, a boot-needle with a nerve agent that takes down bull elephants in a couple seconds, (3) total evasive mode for the several minutes it takes for her to go down, (4) removing the Starro, and (5) administering the antidote so she can get back in action. Probably not going to work, but his options are limited, so it's one of the cards he keeps up his sleeve. It's a good thing Bruce doesn't depend on me for counter-Amazon tactics.
Bruce vs. Diana - ... Instead here Bruce is a moron and jumps in front of a sword. How does that not make Batman look bad and ineffectual? Most humans would be chopped in quarters in the panel immediately following "TIME HAS RUN OUT FOR YOU." He bought some time with his chatter, at least, and trying to reason with Diana is usually an excellent choice of action. Not a lot you can do against a highly-motivated warrior with godlike strength/speed and a Holy Avenger +5.
Diana vs. Clark - ... Note however that Clark was raised under different conditions here and had killed several individuals prior to this, hell he killed Uncle Sam just prior to the scene. Secondly, I don't see how Superman killing Diana with such ease could be argued as unreasonable, but the Diana/Bruce fight going as expected. The written balance is all over the place. Ugh, Clark not "walking on eggshells" so that he doesn't accidentally kill someone? Game over, boring story, I'm out. For Clark pwning Diana, ever since I saw this back in the day, I expect Diana to go ten rounds with Clark before (most likely) she drops (unless there's a magic blade and she's willing to use it, or some Kryptonite lying around, or ... yada yada). If the balance of power is off all over the place, then boom, the writer has lost me. Without a strong, consistent story, there is nothing of value. Except maybe icons!
