Jim Hammond killed Hitler, but he had a good reason. Hitler was about to push an asbestos button (?) that would have set off bombs that would destroy Berlin and everyone in it. In fact, Hitler was already soaked in gasoline, as he was ready to kill himself and have an underling burn the body when the Torch arrived.
I *think* this was an early WHAT IF issue that showed "established" Marvel history. It was also recalled in an "Original Human Torch" miniseries.
This reminds me of the first Hellboy movie.
