Re: It makes sense in context
In my job I regularly hear people talk about "the final solution" (mainly because we tend to half-ass the initial solution), and the words always stick out to me. I don't think the people who use it give it a second thought, though. When a term is part of your technical jargon, other connotations tend to fade away.
For example, in my experience most people who hear about male and female connectors for the first time are a little shocked and embarrassed. But pretty soon they forget about the fact that it's a sexual analogy, and talk about the male end and the female end completely matter of fact.
