How much does anyone wish to bet that Cap is going to blame Maria for this? (not that I'd blame him)

I'm also curious as to why Maria simply can't have someone remove the control disc embedded in her. If she freaks out due to the Controller's influence, wouldn't the best thing to do would be to remove it before they do anything else?
