Damn, I'd forgotten how great that story was, thank for reminding me.

I can spend hours in an ordinary bookshop, ANY ordinary bookshop... they'd NEVER get me out of that place...

Oh, me too, especially with second hand books where it's almost always a labyrinthine little shop.

There's one in my town where the books are piled so deep you can't even see the shelves. Half the books may be inaccessible, but I still managed to find a Bradbury first edition first time I went in there.

Great comic, anyway. I loved the bit about 'except one' being just incase he can't find i. Beautiful.

Not as fun as you think. For one thing, you get paranoid about kids leaving everything on the floor...

Thank you! I wanted to be a translator before I swerved into art, albeit in German and Portuguese, not English.

It is, yes. I'd love to see Q Mag regularly translated and available outside of ex-Yu, but sadly that's too much to ask. :/

In that case, I salute your efforts even more. That's a lot of work to go to for lil' old us. It's much appreciated. ^_^

It's no problem at all; this is the most welcoming English-language comics forum that I know of for this kind of material.

And from the looks of it, he and Sandra didn't even stay together anyway, so she was a jealous tart/he was a wuss for nothing. Jesus, how sad.

That's why I love those little from-life stories, even if they have a magical dimension to them.

When you talked about this after the Great Disaster, I googled it. It seems to have spread quite a bit!

Was there any more to this story?

No, this is all. The majority of comics published in Q Mag are short stories like these; of those that aren't one-offs I think one is serialised because it's too long to publish at once (but no more than 60-70 pages in total) and another is a series of adventures of an avian police station which is hilarious and which I'll have to promote here at some point. There's nothing like a cranky blackbird cop.

Any time! I wish I could translate the reception of this story into getting Q Mag distributed in English-speaking countries, but I doubt they'll ever meet in great numbers.

It's a very charming little story. I can picture myself longing to read Verne again when I get older, as it were also some of the first books I read.

On a number of levels.
1. Childhood regrets.
2. My mother giving me books and reading to me.
3. The sadness and sweetness.
4. So beautiful.

Agreed; I got into Verne and Lindgren and so on through my parents even more than through the school library and required reading.
