I heard about Michael Jackson wanting to buy Marvel Comics on a podcast shortly after Jackson's death. The podcasters made a "Hey Kids! Comics!" joke, based on the sign on top of most spinner racks.
I know Jonah Jameson is based on Stan Lee parodying himself and Steve Ditko's dislike of yellow journalism, but "informing the public" is also an important part of the newspaper business (especially back in the 1960s). Of course, the only actual reporters at the Daily Bugle I can think of were Ned Leeds, Ben Urich and Joy Mercardo.
