Re: An even darker view:
Your understanding of the Abrahamic religions is flawed. God's omnipotence is limited. Otherwise, mankind wouldn't have free will. You might argue that free will isn't worth it, then, but is that the position you really want to take?
The religious position is that God created the world and gave us a choice between Good and Evil, and by making that choice we've made the world what it is. Again, you might think we'd have been better off as drones who only knew good, but once we have that choice, the only way to make it a real choice is for evil to be somewhat attractive and for God to keep out of it. If there were no rewards to evil, there'd be no reason to choose it, and if we were sure that God existed and we knew what he wanted us to do, and that he'd stop us from doing otherwise, we'd all do what God wanted. Again, no real choice.
You seem to WANT to view the Abrahamic religions as evil and sadistic. (You also seem to have given a pass to Eastern religions, despite suffering being a necessary part of their theology.) Why is
"If God is purely evil, why would He create good in the world?
To make sure that the pain that he inflicts on humanity still stings, because he's a sick sadistic fuck"
any different from claiming that God allows evil to exist because it gives the good meaning?
