You are indeed a brave, valiant soul. Keep fighting the good fight.
Please. Coming from the guy who's all ALL SUPERHERO COMIC BOOKS ARE INHERENTLY ARTISTICALLY INFERIOR AND YOU ARE ALL FOOLS TO DEBATE THEIR RELATIVE MERITS, you're one to talk.
The question, I guess, is: why so serious?
Given the fact that Morrison responds to criticisms from fans by comparing them to either a) the irredeemably evil denizens of the Phantom Zone or b) Hitler, I don't think I'm being any more "serious" than the creator to whose work I'm responding.
And with The Filth, he actually had the courage of his convictions to test out his "bold, brave new ideas" without relying on the training wheels of pre-established characters to try and sell them.
See, I'm the kind of guy whom neither side of the debate can stand, because I don't think pre-established all-ages superheroes should be written like the pet arthouse projects of individual "creators," for them to vomit all over with no oversight, but at the same time, I also don't think properties like The Authority - or even Irredeemable, as much as it sucks - should be sanitized into some sort of Dini-and-Timm all-ages stuff, either.
Everything has its own level, and should be what it is.
