You can expect that message with any comic with a female protagonist. The men will be outright boors that she has to triumph over, either with a cutting remark or assault ("Hey baby, you look hot in that costume" and she gives him a black eye). It's the approach writers use to appeal to a female readership. Whether it works or not is debateable. But it certainly drives away possible male readers, which usually results in sales below sustainable levels. And then fans are upset that their heroines can't keep a title of their own.
