I mean, benefit of the doubt, maybe Sturges didn't mean to suggest that there's something wrong with her because she's angry (sorry, Brenda, "intense"), because y'know if a girl's angry there's something wrong with her since girls are by nature happy, fluffy creatures...but that's what I'm getting. My reaction may be twisted by years of seeing the angry-girl-just-needs-to-find-luuuurve-and-she-won't-be-angry-anymore-because-that's-a-character-flaw-but-only-when-girls-do-it plot--but he wrote it in the same culture I'm reading it in, so fuck benefit of the doubt.
