Yeah, but it was practically a shot-for-shot remake in places. Superman saves Lois from an aircraft disaster, goes to face Luthor, gets taunted and KOed by Kryptonite (you'd think he'd have learned by now to go "uh-oh, Luthor, better check for green-K."), Luthor's ditzy female assistant betrays him, Superman saves the world from a natural disaster through several super-feats, flies off into space. Even more glaringly, all the intriguing new characters Singer introduced, like Jason and Richard White, got no resolution. All we got was basically the first act of a real Superman movie, stretched out to 2+ hours.
