True enough - from what I've heard about Hollywood, they very rarely use the first draft of any script. Maybe this guy will turn in his version, and some studio people will say 'hmm - not bad, but it needs more punch', so they'll call in someone else, and someone else after that, until finally all the essentials are filled in, and they just need someone to draw everything together - maybe even Joss Whedon. So then the script will be finished, they can carry on with the process, and Writer #1 will have a nice feather in his cap for being associated with a blockbuster.
